Persons wishing to burn trash in a burn barrel or burn pile should contact City Hall Police Department for the necessary permit. Read the Oregon DEQ open burn guide before you burn.

Question: My neighbor is burning garbage and plastics in his burn barrel or burn pile. Is he allowed to do this?
No. The law prohibits burning wet rubbish and plastics in the open or in a burn barrel. When these materials are burned, hazardous air pollutants are emitted. If you believe someone is burning improperly, report to City Hall the time the burning occurs, what is being burned, and the homeowner's name and address. A representative of our Fire Department will check out the situation.
